Numerous races inhabit the universe and not all of them get along. Luckily for most of the sentient beings, wholesale slaughter has been avoided and most conflicts are handled one-on-one in "The Ring". Welcome to "The Ring". The Ring Nebulae to be exact. "The Ring" to most of the dwellers of the inhabited planets is simply a location, a vacation spot ("Hey Glaxon, going to 'The Ring' this weekend?"). Some say it’s just a location where different races gather. Most come to socialize, a few come to fight. The warriors of "The Ring" see things in a whole different light. Brought here through wormholes in the fabric of space-time, they gather here for battles of pride, glory, and fame in the organization known as FUTURE COMBAT! The Ring Nebulae is a convenient gathering place for the races of the universe to gather and challenge themselves to see who is the best. The warriors who fight here represent the best their planets, solar systems, and galaxies have to offer. Warriors begin in the Galactic Rookie Leagues and work their way up to the Universal League where only the best survive to challenge for the top spot. This much coveted position brings honor and glory to the champion’s home-world since the top warrior in FUTURE COMBAT is truly, the best in the Universe! Each warrior belongs to a Cadre of warriors brought to "The Ring" by their Handler. The Handler takes care of their training, publicity, and career. Handlers may allow their warriors to become members of separate Teams that represent an ideal, a goal, or a group of folks out for blood! Fights are scheduled three times a week (Mon, Weds, Fri). Each fight is monitored by a holographic referee while the stands are filled with actual observers or holographic representations of those who wish to view the action. Due to the number of fights that take place each week, a whole space station has been built for the sole-purpose of hosting these contests. Asimov Station is the size of most moons and has all the amenities required by its hoards of visitors. The lower decks of the station are devoted to the transport connections that bring contestants and spectators to the Asimov. The middle decks house training facilities for the Warriors and their Handlers. As well as the gyms for the variety of different teams that exist on the station. The upper decks house the Battle Pits themselves. The more crowded, densely packed Rookie rings are several levels below the more spacious and luxurious rings which host the Universal League. Warriors literally have to 'fight their way to the top' starting in the Rookie Leagues, up through the Star Leagues and then through the Galactic Leagues in order to display their talents in the high end Battle Pits of the Universal League of FUTURE COMBAT. |
